There comes a time when the wardrobe began to conquer other pieces of furniture in the room. Almost every home has an armchair or chair that it makes to extend the wardrobe. We like to buy nice clothes, but we buy and buy very often, until there is not enough space on hangers or shelves. This is a sign that it is time to clean up.
Why keep clothes that will never be used?
There are some important things to know about the wardrobe stage. The answer is very simple, because we do not want them to become outdated or out of style in a few months. We have grown accustomed to buying new ones if you can’t use it for much longer than six months without washing and ironing. That’s why clothing stores offer discounts on seasonal items each year: they need space for new products over time, but they also want us to come back too!
How often should you clean your wardrobe?
The frequency with which we should clean our wardrobes depend largely on how many clothes per person there are in the house. If there are two people living at home, then every three months would be enough time between wardrobe cleaning.
If there are four people living in the house, then every six months would be enough time between wardrobe cleanings.
However, it is better to have a more frequent schedule than not enough because some clothes can accumulate and take up too much room on hangers or shelves after several years without being washed by hand with soap, they will develop mold from sweat secretion of bacteria present in fabric fibers. And is that these types of microorganisms also cause unpleasant smells in clothing when we wear them for long periods of time!
How to plan cleaning in the wardrobe?
Preparing a cleaning plan is not that difficult!
All you need to do is make a list of the clothes that you want to clean. You’ll also need to find out how many pieces of clothing there are per person in your household, which will help determine how often you’ll have to clean the wardrobe. Then, divide the number of garments by the frequency at which they should be cleaned and… voila!
- List every piece of clothing in the closet and determine what needs to be done with each item.
- Assign a date for when clothes should be rotated: donated, trash, worn once, or worn more than once.
- Decide if you are going to remove some of the clothes from the shelf so it isn’t as cluttered.
- Open up all the drawers and check if there is anything that needs to be cleaned or organized within them as well.
- Organize your hangers by color or style so it is easier to find clothes in the future.
